Ann Curry
Ann Curry was born in the US and works as a photographer and journalist. Since more than 45 years, she has concentrated on documenting human suffering, especially in natural disasters and wars. Curry has covered wars across the world, including in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry, born November 19 1956 (Agana) is an American journalist who worked as anchor of a newscast on TV. Curry was noted especially for her reporting on human rights issues in war-stricken countries as well as on natural catastrophes. Curry's father served as a sailor within the U.S. Navy and her mother was Japanese. Curry's parents bonded in Japan in Japan, the country where her father was stationed after World War II. The family was frequently on the move because of her dad's military service. The family eventually moved to Ashland Oregon where Curry attended the high school. She graduated with a journalism certificate in 1978 from The University of Oregon in 1978. When she was a young woman she was exposed diverse cultures. Curry did not have the opportunity to attend one school in the cities of San Diego, Alameda Oregon or Virginia during the two-year period because her family relocated frequently. Ashland in Oregon is the school where Curry earned her diploma. As an intern at KTVL Channel 10 Medford, Oregon, she started her career in the field of broadcasting. She became the first female journalist for the station at was just 22. Later, she became anchor and reporter at KGW located in Portland Oregon. In Los Angeles, she became a reporter at KCBS TV four years after making the move into the city. In her time with the station she received 2 Emmy Awards.
